About Us

We work with educators to connect kids to the places in which they live.

Founded in 2017 as the Wellborn Hub, the Upper Valley Teaching Place Collaborative (UVTPC) is a network of education professional development providers and practitioners who work together to advance high-quality place-based and ecological education (PBEE) in all Upper Valley Schools of Vermont and New Hampshire.

UVTPC is funded by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s Wellborn Ecology Fund.

Our Vision

We envision an Upper Valley where all students are deeply engaged in education that fosters ecological understanding and connection to places. We work with professional development providers, educators, administrators, and schools across the region to connect them to the support they need in order to advance Place Based Ecology Education (PBEE).

Meet The Steering Committee

Place-based Ecology Education Providers

Connect with UVTPC to enhance your professional practice. Support is available throughout the year and comes in many forms. Learn about citizen science protocols during the school year and summer break through teacher trainings. Connect with professional environmental educators who can join your classroom to deliver hands-on lessons. Work with your students to do real research and present your findings at science symposiums. Our Funders

WELLBORN ECOLOGY FUND

ENCOURAGING LOCAL SCIENCE EXPLORATION

The Wellborn Ecology Fund is dedicated to increasing environmental and ecological science knowledge in the Upper Valley.

Marguerite Wellborn was a naturalist and a writer who believed that knowledge was the key to environmental preservation. In her will, she left nearly $10 million to create the Wellborn Ecology Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, “to be used for public awareness of environmental and ecological issues in the Upper Valley.”
